Almenia is Senior Director, Global Site Engagement at Oncacare a specialized Global Oncology Site Network. Almenia has over 25 years’ experience in clinical research and during this time she has had the opportunity to work on several projects combining healthcare and technology like EHR2EDC. She specializes in site selection strategy, investigator identification and investigator relationship management. Almenia has a passionate interest in driving diversity in all aspects of clinical trials. She has supported a number of initiatives to increase diversity in PIs, research sites, study staff and patient recruitment. She is on the board of Directors for Nvolve, a non-profit that focuses on preparing young women for STEM careers. She is also an advisory board member for CISCRP (Center for Information & Study on Clinical Research Participation).
With ICON, Almenia champions diversity and inclusion (D&I) as an advocate and co-leader of the EmbRACE group. She also leads the representation workstream, focusing on enhancing diversity in leadership roles and fostering diversity in the life sciences as a career choice. Almenia earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master’s degree in Science from Ulster University in Jordanstown, Northern Ireland.
